Thoughts...

Finally, I can enjoy the sweet taste of alcohol - i sip my fave baron de rothschild bordeaux as i type, it's like nectar from above - after a mini-hiatus. However the hiatus was somewhat thought-provoking as I came down with gastric flu. Nasty buggerof a flu - I had to go to a&e at 5am and I do hate hospitals...

I don't know what it is about hospitals but the state of vulnerability that you are in makes you realise how small and helpless you are in the bigger scheme of things. Everyday, life more or less revolves around you, your family, loved ones, friends, your goals/thoughts/wants/needs etc and suddenly there is this bigger crop circle out there beyond your control. Not that I'm a control freak or especially meticulous, hospitals always seem to throw me that scary curveball which sometimes I dread to face.

Plus, I also watched 'Russian Dolls' in which there was food for thought for those approaching thirty. It tells of the various jigs that we have to do in life, the uncertainty of attaining all our goals as well the road to settling. Plus, it said that love is like a russian doll, we have to peel off the layers of various dolls before we hit 'the one' in the middle. Wow, heavy stuff eh! All this while under drugs oops i meant heavy medication. Kudos to those who have managed to bypass the peeling process and found the one already. Er... how much is that doggy in the window? Like what they say, grab life by the b*lls and throw a party. At least my dog will be there :)!

WOMAD - finally!

Here are my pix from WOMAD.
Enjoy :)

Video of the Year?

Today at work, we handled a lot of pictures from the MTV Video Music Awards. A group called Panic! at the Disco won video of the year with 'I write sins not tragedies'. Quite a catchy american take on punk with keyboards thrown in. However, when I watched the video, I felt that MTV has lost its edge as I didn't feel that it was groundbreaking. MTV has always been viewed as a creative innovative channel but I was disappointed that this won video of the year. I feel that the dark goth theme has been done really well by Floria Sigismondi and this just paled by comparison.

Hmm this made me wonder... Has the era of Spike Jonze, Floria Sigismondi, Hype Williams, Michel Gondry made way for newer blood so much so that style and artistic vision has been compromised for a newer younger audience? Hot damn, that or I am seriously growing older - eep!

Here is the vid - see what you think...
